So glad you have found us. We are a nomadic family of 9 travelling Australia with our six daughters, and our one son and forever missing our precious daughter Serenity who went to be with Jesus at 13 hours old on 12 March 2011. Her short life has changed our lives forever! As we travel we perform at shows, festivals and fundraisers with our dogs, help out on farms and also sell handmade woodcraft, dog collars, leads and capes. We are also doTERRA wellness advocates. Follow our joys and trials here.

Four years ago today!

This time four years ago we were packing up our rental house with no idea where we were going, what we were going to live in, or how everything would pan out.  At around 10pm we checked in to the only motel that was still open in Gympie, QLD!  For the next few days we stayed in the motel then moved out to the local caravan park where we all (8 of us) crammed in to a one room cabin which was a great adventure for the kids!  As parents it was all very stressful … here we were with not a clue as to what we were going to do with our family!

We decided to buy a caravan that we could tow behind our falcon wagon and head up to Townsville or Cairns area and look for work as there was no work in the local area.  We said goodbye to our Gympie friends and set off on an adventure!

All the way north it rained! It rained and it rained!  Looking back, heading north in February is NOT a good idea!  In Mackay we drove through floodwaters where the car left the ground when a large 4wd drove towards us like a cowboy!  For the kids it was a wonderful, exciting adventure, but again for us parents it was stressful!  We got through safely the floodwaters, and arrived without further adventures to Townsville where we were met by Sarah’s brother and family who had recently moved there.

With no work on the horizon we continued our travels north spending some time exploring the tablelands.  With money fast running out we headed back to Townsville still searching for work.  Finally got three months work that paid enough for us to stay in a caravan park with not much left over!  Decided that if we had to live in a caravan we may as well travel!

In the last four years we have travelled from Gympie to Gladstone, Cairns to Cunnamulla, Whyalla100_8434 to Warracknabeal,  Armadale to Ararat, Newcastle to Narrandera!

After a year of travel, we decided that with a new family member on the way, we needed to upgrade our rig!  Enter our Volvo B58 ex-School bus.  We have slowly fitted it out, after moving in 3 days after we bought it! Three years later, it is still a work in progress.

So four years on, we are still on the road …. we’ve seen a lot of places, but there is still lots more to see.  We have not been to the Territory nor to WA or Tasmania!  It’s not all a bed of roses, life happens no matter where you live!  We have had more than our fair share of tragedies, a few bright spots and mostly just normal life!  We have met lots of people, some who have enhanced our life and some who we’d rather not meet again!  From each and everyone we have learned something.

I’ll leave you with some of the favourite shots from the last four years …
